No:197/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy

On 2 May 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy, who is on a visit to our country to participate in the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.

During the meeting, issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as the current regional situation were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction the active participation and contribution of the Russian side in prestigious international events organized in our country, including the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.

It was emphasized that the high-level dialogue between the leaders of the two countries, as well as intensive contacts, contribute to the development of relations. The importance of continuing existing bilateral cooperation within regional and international formats was underlined.

Speaking about the work carried out within the framework of Azerbaijan’s COP29 presidency, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that new opportunities for cooperation have emerged in this direction.

Providing information on the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, including the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the recent agreement reached between the delimitation commissions is a very positive development within the peace agenda. In this regard, he underlined that our country is determined to achieve tangible results on all elements of the normalization process.

Special Representative Mikhail Shvydkoy noted that there are broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly education, culture, technology, and innovation, and emphasized the importance of joint activities in this direction.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
