No:192/25, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar

On 8 May 2025, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

 

During the telephone conversation, the ministers discussed the current regional security situation and the growing tension between Pakistan and India.

 

The Pakistani minister provided information on the missile attacks carried out by India against Pakistan on 6–7 May and the response measures taken by Pakistan. It was noted that the Indian attacks mainly affected the civilian population, resulting in dozens of casualties, while the Pakistani side targeted military facilities in response. The Pakistani minister also informed that he held telephone conversations with the ministers of foreign affairs of several countries and provided them with detailed explanations of the situation.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in turn, expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan and condemned the military attacks that resulted in the death and injury of civilians.

 

The Minister emphasized the necessity of preventing further escalation and expressed hope that the tension would be resolved through diplomatic means and negotiations.

 

During the telephone conversation, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
