No:191/25, Press release on consular consultations between Azerbaijan and Estonia

On 8 May 2025, consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia were held in Tallinn.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while the Estonian delegation was led by Tiina Nirk, Director General of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects of relations between the two countries in the consular sphere, as well as opportunities to expand the bilateral legal and contractual framework in this field, were discussed.
In addition, issues related to expanding cooperation in providing effective consular assistance to protect the rights and interests of citizens of both countries were addressed, and an exchange of views was held on the visa policies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Estonia.
In line with the challenges of the modern era, the importance of digitalization and the implementation of electronic services to ensure accessibility and efficiency in the provision of consular services was emphasized. An exchange of experience between the two countries in this field was carried out.
A number of proposals were also considered to establish relations between the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Estonia, as well as to develop bilateral cooperation in the fields of migration, science, and education.
