No:181/24, Press release on the speech of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov at the “CEVRO” Institute

On 23 April 2024, within the framework of his official visit to the Czech Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, delivered a speech at a meeting with representatives of think tanks at the “CEVRO” Institute on the topic “Foreign policy priorities of Azerbaijan.”
In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the main directions of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan–Czech relations, the realities and challenges of the post-conflict period, the current status of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as Azerbaijan’s efforts in the broader region in the fields of energy security, transport, and communications.
It was noted that Azerbaijan actively participates in promoting regional cooperation formats to effectively address modern challenges, particularly contributing to the advancement of joint projects in the fields of economy, energy security, transport, and communications.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted that following the end of the former Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict and the full restoration of our territorial integrity and sovereignty, new opportunities have emerged in the region for peace and confidence-building.
It was stated that Azerbaijan is determined to advance the normalization agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia on a direct bilateral basis and to prevent external interference in this process. The recent return of four Azerbaijani villages previously under Armenian occupation through negotiations was described as a promising development for the future of the peace process.
Informing participants about Azerbaijan’s COP29 chairmanship and the ongoing negotiation process, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that this chairmanship reflects the importance our country attaches to combating climate change.
Following the speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov answered numerous questions from the participants.
