No:175/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Azerbaijan, Abdelwahab Osman

On 19 April 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Abdelwahab Osman, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in our country.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Abdelwahab Osman for his efforts in developing relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria during his tenure in our country and wished him success in his future activities.

The sides emphasized with satisfaction the growing partnership, friendly relations, and high-level contacts between Azerbaijan and Algeria. The importance of cooperation in expanding relations in political, economic, humanitarian, energy, inter-parliamentary, and other fields was noted. It was highlighted that the two countries continue successful cooperation within the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international platforms.

It was brought to attention that Algeria’s consistent support for Azerbaijan’s position based on international law regarding the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is highly appreciated by our side. The Minister also informed the Ambassador about the current situation in the region and the process of normalization of relations with Armenia.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
