On 19 April 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammad Mustafa.
During the phone call, the sides discussed issues on the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Palestine, as well as the situation in Gaza.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed his congratulations to Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on his appointment to this important position. The Prime Minister, in turn, sincerely congratulated our country on its chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
The existence of a bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas, as well as mutual support within regional and international organizations, was noted with satisfaction.
It was emphasized that Azerbaijan has always supported the Palestinian issue based on the norms of international law, including relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, and advocates for a “two-state solution.” It was also noted that Azerbaijan has taken practical steps at the national level, including during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, to address the consequences of the conflict.
The assistance of 2 million US dollars provided by the Republic of Azerbaijan to Palestine through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as well as the availability of training and educational programs for Palestinian students and diplomats, was noted with satisfaction.
The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest during the phone call.
