On 18 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe within the framework of his participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, the prospects for bilateral, as well as multilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
The sides emphasized the importance of developing relations between Azerbaijan and Rwanda within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
It was emphasized that the discussions occured during the reception of the President of Rwanda by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Leaders’ Summit of COP29 held in Baku created new opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries. Satisfaction was expressed with the high-level mutual visits and political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs giving additional impetus to the relations.
During the discussions, it was emphasized that there are broad opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, mining, oil and gas, agriculture, education and other fields. The interest shown by the Rwandan side in establishing citizen service centers based on the concept of “ASAN service”, which is Azerbaijan’s successful project in this field, was highly appreciated. It was noted that Rwanda is carrying out preparatory work for Formula 1 races, and that the experience of our country is useful in this field. It was emphasized that Rwanda is pleased to participate in the scholarship program implemented by our country in the field of education.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
