No:158/26, Press release on the negotiations conducted on bilateral documents between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union

On 16 April, a meeting was held in the city of Brussels between the delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union with the aim of resuming negotiations on a new bilateral agreement and conducting the next discussions on the Partnership Priorities document.

The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev, and the European Union side was headed by Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service Audrone Perkauskiene.

The discussions took place in a constructive spirit served to mutually understand positions on both documents and to plan the next stages of the negotiations.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to hold the next stage of the negotiations in early June in Baku.

In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Azerbaijani delegation included representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Justice, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Labour and Social Protection of Population, as well as the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Customs Committee, the Central Bank, and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev also held meetings with the Deputy Director-General for Climate Action of the European Commission Jan Dusik and the Deputy Director-General for Environment Patrick Child. During the contacts, views were exchanged on the establishment of an Azerbaijan-European Union dialogue format in the field of climate action and environment, as well as on the COP process and initiatives put forward within the framework of international organizations related to climate and environment.
