No:158/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Aleinik

On 12 April 2024, within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Belarus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Aleinik.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the level of strategic partnership relations between the two countries, and the importance of developing cooperation in potential areas, as well as mutual visits, was highlighted. In particular, the significance of expanding cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and sports was emphasized.
The sides noted the necessity of strengthening cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
At the same time, prospects for developing cooperation in other sectors of the economy, including agriculture, transport, mechanical engineering, and tourism, were discussed.
The ministers noted that there is significant potential for expanding economic relations and emphasized that important decisions were adopted at the 13th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation held on 15 May 2023, and that directions aimed at further strengthening economic ties were considered.
In addition, information was provided on the preparation process for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and opportunities for cooperation within this framework were assessed.
The ministers also discussed reconstruction and rebuilding efforts in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as Belarus’s possible contributions to this process. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also briefed his counterpart in detail on the existing mine threat in the region.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
