No:155/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to our country Lu Mei

On 15 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to our country Lu Mei.

 

Ambassador Lu Mei presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic activities in our country.

 

During the meeting, the political, economic, trade, transport-communications, and humanitarian aspects of the Azerbaijan-China strategic partnership, as well as the regional and international situation, were discussed.

 

It was noted that the past year was marked by the adoption of the “Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China,” and the importance of efforts to further strengthen our strategic partnership arising from the said Declaration was brought to attention. In this regard, the importance of high-level visits and consultation mechanisms was emphasized.

 

The existence of broad potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment was noted.

 

Issues of cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, were discussed.

 

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan-China cooperation within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by our country last year, is commendable.

 

Ambassador Lu Mei expressed gratitude for the reception and noted that she will spare no effort in developing our strategic partnership relations during her tenure in our country.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
