No:149/24, Press release on consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro

On 3 April 2024, the first consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro were held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Emil Safarov, while the Montenegrin delegation was headed by the Acting Director of the Directorate General for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ms. Ivana Dokanović.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Serbia, as well as to Montenegro and North Macedonia, Kamil Khasiyev.

During the consular consultations, the current state and development prospects of cooperation in the consular field between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Montenegro were reviewed, including possibilities for signing new bilateral documents in this area.

During the meeting, the delegations emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation aimed at facilitating mutual travel of the citizens of the two countries.

Within the framework of the consultations, views were exchanged on proposals to develop cooperation between the competent state authorities of the two countries in the fields of internal affairs, migration, labor, and social protection.

The sides reached an agreement to hold the next round of consular consultations between them in 2025 in the city of Baku.
