No:144/26, Press release on the next meeting of the High-Level Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) under the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On 7 April, the next meeting of the High-Level Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held in the administrative building of the CICA Secretariat in the city of Astana under the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting of the Committee, the active activities of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of its chairmanship of CICA under the theme “Stronger CICA: digitalization, connectivity and sustainable development in Asia,” the steps taken in various areas of cooperation were reviewed, and the main directions of mutual cooperation among member states were discussed.
Information was presented by the chairmanship on developments in the agenda of the transformation of CICA into an international organization, including the progress of negotiations on the relevant draft Charter.
At the event, an annual assessment was conducted on the implementation of confidence-building measures in the military-political dimension of CICA. The development of cooperation in the military-political field by member states and the role of CICA as a multilateral military security platform in this direction were considered.
At the meeting, the draft Action Plan on the CICA Think Tank Forum was discussed, and conceptual documents on the implementation of confidence-building measures in various dimensions of CICA were reviewed, and the concept document on “Development of Small and Medium Enterprises” was adopted.
In addition, an exchange of views was held on other issues of mutual interest within the CICA area.
