On 31 March, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, Maxime Prévot, made a phone call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
During the phone call, the current security situation in the Middle East, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belgium, as well as prospects for cooperation within the framework of the European Union were discussed.
The Ministers expressed their deep concern over the ongoing military escalation in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means. The Belgian Minister also expressed his solidarity with our country regarding the drone attack carried out from the territory of Iran towards Nakhchivan. At the same time, gratitude was expressed to our country for the conditions created to ensure the evacuation of Belgian citizens from Iran.
The Ministers also exchanged views on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the measures taken to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region.
The sides emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and existing mechanisms such as political consultations, mutual visits, and high-level contacts in further developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belgium on issues of mutual interest.
