No:131/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Periša Kastratović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro

On 3 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Periša Kastratović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan–Montenegro cooperation, opportunities for developing relations at bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as the regional and international situation were discussed.
The importance of mutual visits and contacts, including the use of the mechanism of political consultations, as well as inter-parliamentary relations, was noted in terms of discussing the development of cooperation between the two countries and the possibilities of utilizing existing potential in this direction.
It was brought to attention that there are favorable conditions for further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Montenegro, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, energy security, tourism and humanitarian areas. In this regard, the importance of expanding partnership in green energy was highlighted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and construction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as efforts to combat the mine threat that endangers the lives and health of our citizens almost on a daily basis.
The counterpart was also informed about the current state of the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization and peace process. It was emphasized that as a result of bilateral negotiations initiated by our country, the text of the peace agreement has been agreed, however, the main obstacles to the signing of the agreement, particularly the continued territorial claims against our country in the Constitution of Armenia, remain.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Montenegro. The consultations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and State Secretary Periša Kastratović from the Montenegrin side.
