On 1 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Political Advisor to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehdi Sanaei.
During the meeting, various aspects of the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as regional and international security issues, were discussed.
The importance of mutual visits and contacts, including the existing political dialogue, in the development of Azerbaijan–Iran relations was emphasized, and it was noted that discussions of issues of common interest contribute to the expansion of cooperation.
The sides, discussing the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including political, economic, trade, energy security, transport and communications, particularly noted that a number of projects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Iran play an important role in the development of transport corridors passing through our region.
It was brought to attention that the State Commission on economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran is an important platform for discussing existing opportunities for cooperation in relevant areas.
The importance of further strengthening cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the D-8, was noted.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
