No:112/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Asad Majeed Khan

On 14 March 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Asad Majeed Khan, who is visiting our country to participate in the 12th Global Baku Forum.
During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization, efforts to strengthen the Organization’s activities, preparations for the Summit to be held in our country, as well as regional issues were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that our country attaches importance to the work of the Economic Cooperation Organization, that the region covered by the Organization is rich in opportunities in the fields of economic-trade and transport-communications, and in this regard emphasized the importance of utilizing the existing potential of the region.
Reference was made to Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the importance of advancing environmental initiatives within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization was noted.
It was emphasized that the Summit to be held in our country this year will play an important role in the development and strengthening of the Economic Cooperation Organization, and in this regard the importance of active participation and contributions of Member States was highlighted.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
