No:110/22, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay
On March 12, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay in the margins of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
At the meeting, the Executive Director noted with satisfaction and gratitude that Azerbaijan has consistently supported the CICA initiative from day one. He especially praised the coordinating role of Azerbaijan in confidence-building measures for the security and effective development of transport corridors within the CICA, noting that the meeting of experts in this area in September last year was very useful. The Executive Director also noted that the construction of safe and efficient transport corridors is one of the main directions within CICA. Kairat Sarybay informed about the preparations for the CICA Summit to be held in October this year.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan attaches importance to cooperation within the CICA and our country is closely involved in the work of this platform. Jeyhun Bayramov also noted the importance that Azerbaijan attaches to the development of transport corridors and the priority of this direction. In particular, the Minister stressed the importance of opening the Zangezur Corridor in the context of new opportunities for cooperation in the region in a post-conflict period, and expressed Azerbaijan's position on this issue.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also said that Azerbaijan supported the efforts to develop the CICA platform.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, as well as preparations for the CICA Summit to be held in October this year.
