On 12 March 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed abbas Araghchi.
During the phone call, issues arising from Azerbaijan–Iran bilateral and regional relations were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of political dialogue in the development of the existing Azerbaijan–Iran relations.
It was noted that joint projects implemented between Azerbaijan and Iran in the fields of energy, transport and investment are of strategic importance. It was brought to attention that transport corridors passing through the territory of Iran, as well as infrastructure projects that will connect the western regions of Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic create new opportunities for the region.
The sides also noted the role of the intergovernmental economic commission in developing trade and economic relations between the two countries.
During the phone call, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
