On 6 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic of the Congo for Strategic Issues and International Cooperation Françoise Joly.
During the meeting, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the Congo was discussed.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the development of cooperation with African countries is one of the main foreign policy priorities of our country. It was noted that there are broad opportunities for expanding relations between Azerbaijan and the Congo in political, economic-trade and energy, as well as education and humanitarian fields.
Satisfaction was expressed with the mutual support of our countries within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, the United Nations and other international institutions and platforms. Within the framework of the scholarship program for member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, the education of students from the Congo in our country, as well as opportunities for the participation of representatives in the NAM Youth Organization were reviewed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in our country this year, creates additional opportunities for cooperation.
Then, views were exchanged on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
