No:101/24, Press release on the participation and speech of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

On 5 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov participated and delivered a speech at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) within the framework of his working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the current situation in the Israel-Palestine conflict zone, the ongoing losses among the civilian population, the displacement of people from the Gaza region, as well as the population facing hunger cause serious concern.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, conveying condolences on behalf of our country to the families and relatives of the victims, emphasized that Azerbaijan joins the calls for the immediate cessation of military operations, as well as the importance of urgent measures to be taken by the international community to put an end to the loss of innocent lives.
It was brought to attention that Azerbaijan supports the resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict on the basis of the two-state solution in accordance with the norms of international law, as well as relevant resolutions of the United Nations, and that it has made continuous efforts over the years to eliminate the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
The Minister, referring to the humanitarian assistance provided at the national level to the brotherly Palestinian people, stated that Azerbaijan has most recently made a financial contribution of 2 million US dollars to the relevant agency of the United Nations in order to assist people in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that Azerbaijan, as a responsible and active member of the Islamic world, will continue to support the just and sustainable resolution of the Palestinian issue within the framework of international law, in accordance with the spirit of brotherhood and values of the holy religion of Islam.
