On 7 March 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev in Istanbul within the framework of the informal meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers.
During the meeting, the current security situation in the Middle East and the observed regional escalation were discussed.
The drone attacks against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran were condemned, noting that such actions violate international law and its norms and principles and contribute to increased regional tension.
It was emphasized that in the context of rising geopolitical tensions and the international security environment, strengthening solidarity and coordination within the OTS framework is of particular importance.
The meeting also included discussions on other issues of mutual interest.
