No:087/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Ceyhun Bayramov and the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam

On 4 March 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ceyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam.
During the meeting, issues arising from Azerbaijan’s membership in the D-8, as well as regional and international security matters, were discussed.
Minister Ceyhun Bayramov expressed satisfaction that Azerbaijan’s election as a member of the Organization during last year’s D-8 Summit reflects the country’s growing regional and international standing, as well as the trust demonstrated by the Organization.
It was noted that Azerbaijan’s membership represents the first expansion in the history of the D-8 and that the country’s inclusion has played an important role in broadening both the Organization’s representation and its geographical scope.
It was emphasized that Azerbaijan will continue to spare no effort in strengthening cooperation with member states both on a bilateral basis and within the D-8 framework.
The sides also noted the broad potential for cooperation within the D-8 across various fields, including political, economic, trade, energy, transport, communications, humanitarian, and education sectors, and held discussions on future plans in these areas.
Minister Ceyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information to the other side on the extensive reconstruction and rebuilding efforts carried out in the territories liberated from occupation in the post-conflict period.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
