On 2 March 2026, a telephone conversation held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.
During the call, views on the recent military escalation in the Middle East, the rising tensions in the security environment, and their potential consequences were exchanged.
The Ministers expressed serious concern over the rapidly evolving situation and stressed that further escalation could have undesirable effects on regional stability and security.
During the conversation, the urgent need for de-escalation measures was noted, and the importance of keeping diplomatic channels open, as well as promoting dialogue and the negotiation process, was emphasized.
At the same, the necessity of adhering to the norms and principles of international humanitarian law and ensuring the protection of civilians and infrastructure was also highlighted.
The telephone conversation included an exchange of views on other regional and international matters of mutual interest.
