01 March 2026 11:36

Question: Considering the ongoing tense military situation in the region, is there any information regarding the status of Azerbaijani citizens in those countries, and is their evacuation planned?

Answer: Please note that in response to the crisis, our Embassies and Consulates General in the region are operating in an enhanced mode.

Appropriate assistance is being provided by our diplomatic missions based on requests received from our citizens.

To date, only one Azerbaijani citizen has been injured. The individual is receiving support from our diplomatic mission and their condition is reported to be stable.

Regarding the evacuation of citizens, at this time, in line with the travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijani citizens in Iran are exiting the country via the Azerbaijan or Türkiye land borders, depending on their location. So far, 30 citizens have crossed into Azerbaijan.

Overall, considering that the airspace in the region is currently closed, no organized evacuation of citizens is planned at this moment.

Azerbaijani citizens in the region are urged to carefully monitor the security situation, follow the instructions and recommendations of local authorities, avoid areas of mass gatherings, and enhance personal safety measures.
