No:050/26, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov

On 27 February 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by Ahmet Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the dynamic development of political dialogue aimed at further strengthening the friendship and fraternal relations between the two countries, the importance of high-level and top-level visits and contacts was highlighted, and, in this context, last year’s visits of the President of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan and of the Chairman of the Turkmen People’s Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Azerbaijan, as well as the results achieved during these visits, were recalled with appreciation.
Opportunities and prospects for expanding cooperation in accordance with the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, including trade and economic relations, energy, transport and logistics, including cooperation in the Caspian Sea, as well as humanitarian and cultural collaboration, were reviewed.
Within this framework, the important role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation in the development of bilateral relations was underscored. The significance of the cultural days organized last year in Azerbaijan and this year in Turkmenistan was highlighted, alongside the importance of promoting shared values such as carpet weaving and equestrian traditions.
Views on current regional and international issues were also exchanged, and the importance of further developing cooperation within multilateral platforms was emphasized.
Consensus was expressed that the historically rooted friendship and fraternal ties between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will continue to deepen on the basis of partnership relations.
The meeting also included a discussion of other bilateral and multilateral matters of mutual interest.
On the same day, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was held.
The consultations were chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov.
