On 23 February, a telephone conversation held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of the Gambia, Serigne Modou Njie.
During the telephone conversation, the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Gambia were discussed.
In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations signed in September last year, the importance of holding political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries in the near future was emphasized.
The ministers underlined the significance of intensifying political dialogue, increasing mutual visits, and expanding cooperation within international organizations.
The parties also exchanged views on our country’s upcoming chairmanship within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as well as on preparations for high-level events to be held within this framework. In addition, the other side was informed about the World Urban Forum to be hosted in Azerbaijan this year.
The telephone conversation also included an exchange of views on regional and international security issues, as well as other matters of mutual interest.
