No:031/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Lazar Comanescu

On 31 January 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Lazar Comanescu.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan-BSEC cooperation, Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Organization in the first half of 2025, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that BSEC is one of the important platforms for promoting and advancing regional cooperation and noted that our country supports further strengthening of the existing cooperation within the framework of the Organization.
Azerbaijan’s initiatives in the fields of regional economy, trade, energy security, transport, communications and tourism were discussed, and it was noted that the development of the “green energy” corridor project connecting the Caspian-Black Sea-Mediterranean regions, as well as efforts towards the development of the “Middle Corridor,” are among the main directions. The issues of increasing joint efforts within the framework of energy, good governance and other working groups of the Organization were considered.
The sides, referring to our country’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), emphasized the importance of the adoption of a number of key decisions on the new climate finance target, carbon markets and the Loss and Damage Fund within the framework of this significant event held in Azerbaijan last year, as well as the importance of joint action within BSEC on climate activities.
During the meeting, regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
