No:030/23, Press release on the phone conversation of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha
On January 25, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha.
During the phone conversation, the current cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OIC, issues on the Organization's agenda and future plans were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the existance of beneficial and effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and OIC in various fields, including political, economic, cultural, educational and others. The discussions held during the visit of the Secretary General to Azerbaijan and at the meetings held within the framework of the UN General Assembly were recalled with pleasure.
Referring to the successful organization of joint events held over the past year, the parties exchanged views on the events planned to be held in 2023, including preparations for the 49th summit of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to be held in Mauritania in March this year.
The importance of solidarity and joint efforts of the OIC member states in the fight against Islamophobia and terrorist tendencies, poverty threatening international peace and security, as well as intercultural and interfaith dialogue was emphasized.
During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on other regional issues.
