On 13 January 2026, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of the People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yvan Gil Pinto.
During the phone conversation, the recent events in Venezuela, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Venezuela, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his deep condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives as a result of the recent events in Venezuela. He expressed hope that peace and stability would be restored in Venezuela and that the unity of the country would be preserved.
Venezuelan Minister provided detailed information on recent developments. He noted that presidential functions are being successfully carried out and that state institutions are fully operational. The Minister also highlighted that dialogue with the United States continues, that U.S. companies—particularly in the energy sector—have resumed their activities, and that negotiations are underway to allow embassies on both sides to resume operations.
The Ministers emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to develop bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Venezuela, as well as cooperation based on mutual support and solidarity within international organizations, particularly the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
