No:002/26, Press Release on the Meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sudan Muawieh Osman Khalid

On 12 January 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sudan, Muawieh Osman Khalid.
During the meeting, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries was discussed, including the current situation and security issues in the broader region.
The parties emphasized the importance of political dialogue in developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Sudan, as well as cooperation within multilateral platforms. The consultation mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the significance of reciprocal visits were highlighted. Sudan’s active participation in COP29 and the importance of cooperation in the upcoming World Urban Forum this year were also underlined.
Cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, particularly the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement, was noted with satisfaction.
The meeting covered collaboration in energy, humanitarian, education, ASAN service, and other areas. Gratitude is expressed to Azerbaijan for the provision of educational scholarships to Sudanese students.
Additionally, views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were exchanged by the parties during the meeting.
On the same day, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Sudan were held. The consultations were chaired by Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and Muawiya Osman Khalid from the Sudanese side.
