Comments by Hikmat Hajiyev, MFA Spokesperson, on illegal “elections” to be held in occupied territories and self-declared “observers”
The expression of political will through elections in the territory of Azerbaijan is based only on the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Such a provocative step of Armenia under the pretext of “elections”, ignoring the calls of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs on starting to work on a peace agreement, is merely aimed at obstructing the negotiations and disguising its aggression and occupation against Azerbaijan.
These “elections” are deplored and deemed illegal by the international community, which reiterates its support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders.
The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs made it clear once again in their statement on April 30th that these elections are not recognized.
The act of some marginal politicians self-declared themselves as “observers” at these illegal “elections” to be held in occupied territories of Azerbaijan will be regarded as a flagrant violation of the laws of Azerbaijan. The actions of these self-declared “observers” serve to promote the consequences of the aggression and occupation against Azerbaijan and the bloody ethnic cleansing carried out against Azerbaijani people.
As in the case of Slovakian national František Mikloško, these self-declared “observers” may also face criminal prosecution, who illegally visit the occupied territories and grossly violate the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Investigative operational actions against František Mikloško are continued and he has been put on Interpol’s search list.
