Relations between Azerbaijan and EBRD
Azerbaijan became a member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EBRD, on the 25th of September 1992.
EBRD Governor for the Republic of Azerbaijan is Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy. EBRD Alternate Governor for Azerbaijan is Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov.
Co-operation between the EBRD and Azerbaijan is regulated by Country Strategy for 2019-2024. According to this new strategy, financing projects in the following areas is a priority for the EBRD:
- Promote economic diversification by supporting competitiveness and good governance;
- Strengthen resilience by developing financial markets;
- Support green economy transition and regional connectivity.
The EBRD has implemented 177 projects in Azerbaijan, and investments in our country are worth € 3.108 billion.
The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) participates in the EBRD’s Equity Participation Fund (EPF) with a €100 million investment commitment. The EPF’s initial size is €350 million.
