No:714/23, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic

On 11 December 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, within the framework of his working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium to participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership countries.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed his congratulations to the new Slovak Minister on his appointment and wished him success in his activities.
Satisfaction was expressed with the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, which are developing in a spirit of friendship and cooperation, as we mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. It was stated that the existing political dialogue, manifested through diplomatic representation, mutual visits and contacts between the two countries, makes an important contribution to the development of our relations.
Issues on the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Slovakia in the fields of economy and trade, energy security, culture, tourism, education, transport and other areas, including regional and international security elements, were discussed.
The intention of Slovak companies to participate in joint investment, restoration and reconstruction projects in the Garabagh and Eastern Zangezur Economic Regions was highly appreciated.
It was highlighted that the massive contamination of the liberated territories with mines and explosive devices is a major obstacle to restoration and reconstruction works, as well as to ensuring the safe return of internally displaced persons to their homes, and Azerbaijan-Slovakia cooperation in combating the mine problem was noted with satisfaction.
The other side was provided with detailed information about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as Azerbaijan’s efforts towards advancing the normalization and peace agenda with Armenia.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
