No:676/23, Press release on the 7th meeting of the Joint Visa Facilitation Committee between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union

On 23 November, the 7th meeting of the Joint Visa Facilitation Committee between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union was held in Baku.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other state institutions, as well as representatives of the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Union, employees of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and consuls of diplomatic missions of European Union member states accredited in our country.
The sides conducted constructive and detailed discussions on topics covering the mechanisms for applying the facilitations arising from the provisions of the Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union on the facilitation of the issuance of visas, signed on 29 November 2013, and the prospects for expanding useful cooperation between the European Union and our country in this field.
Referring to the statistical indicators for 2022 and up to 15 November 2023, it was emphasized that there has been a significant increase in the number of mutual visits between citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union.
During the meeting, the difficulties faced by citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan when applying for visas to the diplomatic missions of European Union member states operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan were also conveyed to the other side, and an exchange of views was conducted on mechanisms for their elimination.
