On 24 October 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Igor Khovaev, Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.
During the meeting, prospects for the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the current situation and latest developments in the region, as well as the outcomes of the meeting held within the framework of the “3+3” regional platform in Tehran were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that after Azerbaijan fully ensured control over its sovereign territories as a result of the anti-terror measures carried out against illegal Armenian armed forces that had not been withdrawn from the territory of Azerbaijan over the past 3 years contrary to obligations, there are real chances for agreeing on a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia in a short period of time.
It was noted that all opportunities have been created for Armenian residents of Garabagh to live in the territory of our country as citizens of Azerbaijan within the framework of Azerbaijani legislation, and that a relevant portal for reintegration is operating for this purpose.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
