On 20 October 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Joshua Huck, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs of the United States.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as the regional situation in the post-conflict period and prospects for the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided the other side with detailed information about the current situation in the region, and emphasized the importance of ending, as a result of the anti-terror measures taken by Azerbaijan, the presence of Armenian armed forces and the separatist regime, which were remnants of the 30-year occupation period and the main source of threat.
It was stated that one of the greatest obstacles to the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as to the reintegration process of residents of Armenian origin living in the Garabagh region, has been removed.
The Minister noted that in the current circumstances that have emerged for peace in the region, our country, as always, is determined to advance the peace agenda, and in this regard, the constructive position of the international community is also important.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
