On 29 September, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ruslan Edelgeriyev, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on climate issues.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, including possible prospects for partnership in the field of environmental protection, issues arising from the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the current situation in the region after Azerbaijan’s anti-terror measures, as well as humanitarian assistance issues.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided his counterpart with detailed information about the challenges posed by Armenia and the so-called regime established by it in our country to regional peace and security, and spoke about the reasons necessitating the local anti-terror measures carried out by Azerbaijan in its sovereign territory in full compliance with international humanitarian law. In this regard, hope was expressed that ending the presence of illegal Armenian armed forces, which constituted the main threat in the region, would serve peace and stability in the region.
During the meeting, information was also provided to the other side about the ongoing disarmament process, the urgent measures implemented by our country to meet the needs of Armenian residents, and the intensive negotiations conducted on the reintegration of Armenian residents.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to dialogue on the reintegration of Armenian residents living in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan, and that our country will continue comprehensive measures to meet the needs of Armenian residents.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
