No:374/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda Jeje Odongo

On 6 July 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda Jeje Odongo within the framework of the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
At the meeting, issues on the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov recalled with gratitude the support shown by the Ugandan side during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the NAM. In this regard, he noted that Azerbaijan will also closely support Uganda’s chairmanship of the Movement as a member of the troika. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, noting the importance of the NAM in terms of bringing together geographically distant countries on a single platform, stated that such meetings contribute to the development of relations among member countries and to the discussion of prospects for expanding ties.
Minister Jeje Odongo expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s exemplary efforts in increasing the prestige of the Movement, despite chairing the NAM during a complex period. In this regard, he noted the importance of sharing existing experience in order to continue Azerbaijan’s successful chairmanship experience.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
At the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda was signed.
