No:344/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid

On 21 June 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid within the framework of his working visit to the United Kingdom.
At the meeting, topical issues on the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the OSCE, including regional issues, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated with satisfaction that our country, which supports effective multilateralism in the protection of international peace and security, cooperates with a number of international and regional organizations, including the OSCE, in this direction.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, including Azerbaijan’s efforts towards the normalization of relations with Armenia and advancing the peace agenda. It was stated that the constructive approach demonstrated by Azerbaijan faces Armenia’s continued military-political provocations. Despite the existing challenges and difficulties, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan is determined to continue its efforts towards establishing peace and security in the region.
Secretary General Helga Schmid emphasized that the OSCE attaches importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan and is interested in further developing relations in this direction. The importance of activities towards establishing peace in the region and eliminating tension was emphasized.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
