On 5 June 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the delegation of the Israeli Knesset.
The delegation led by Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein also included Head of Diplomatic Affairs of the Committee Sara Zwebner and member of the Committee Ram Ben Barak.
At the meeting, topical issues on the multifaceted cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Israel, including developments taking place in the region, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction that the relations developing in various fields over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations have reached the level of strategic partnership. Referring to his official visit to the State of Israel in March, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that mutual visits, political dialogue and close contacts play an important role in the development of relations.
It was emphasized that the bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Israel in the political, economic, security, energy, cultural, humanitarian, innovation and other fields, mutually beneficial relations, and the effectiveness of parliamentary diplomacy are the result of the efforts demonstrated by our countries in the development of relations.
Chair of the Committee Yuli Edelstein spoke with satisfaction about the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Israel based on mutual respect, support and friendship, and expressed confidence that the opening of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Israel will serve the further strengthening of relations.
During the meeting, the role of the Jewish community was emphasized as a factor having a special impact on the development of relations.
