No:279/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt

On 24 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the delegation led by President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt, who is visiting our country to participate in the international conference held in Baku on “The role of national parliaments in promoting security and stability through green economy, transport connectivity and sustainable development.”
At the meeting, discussions were held on cooperation prospects in relations with Azerbaijan within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the main issues on the agenda, and possible contributions of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Confidence was expressed that the international conference held in Baku, jointly organized by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, will contribute to further deepening mutual cooperation. The importance of interparliamentary dialogue and mutual visits was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region and the large-scale restoration and construction projects carried out by our country. He provided information about the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards ensuring peace and stability in the region despite Armenia’s provocations and efforts to delay the processes, including the signing of a peace treaty, the opening of all communications and other issues.
Along with this, issues such as the ongoing mine threats, Armenia’s failure to fulfill its obligations within the framework of the Trilateral Statement, violence against Azerbaijani servicemen captured in April and their non-return, and the failure to provide information about missing persons were highlighted.
President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt noted that within the framework of her visit to our country, together with the delegation, they visited Zangilan district and became closely acquainted with the reconstruction projects by Azerbaijan. M. Cederfelt, noting that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan, also spoke about the importance of ensuring peace and security in the region, and emphasized that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly promotes peace, stability and parliamentary diplomacy, and works towards ensuring peace in the region.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other topics of mutual interest.
