No:195/23, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov to the Republic of the Philippines

On 3-5 April 2023, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov paid a visit to the Republic of the Philippines.
Within the framework of the visit, on 3 April, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov met with Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Enrique Manalo. At the meeting, the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for their development were discussed, and the importance of joint efforts to achieve practical results in this direction was emphasized.
On 4 April, political consultations were held for the first time between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines. The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov on the Azerbaijani side, and Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Ms. Theresa Lazaro on the Philippine side.
During the consultations, the current state of bilateral relations, as well as issues of expanding mutual partnership in the fields of economy, tourism, energy, agriculture, culture and education were discussed. During the consultations, E. Mammadov provided the other side with extensive information about the normalization process of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, as well as the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. In addition, an exchange of views was conducted on Azerbaijan’s activities within the framework of its Chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and discussions were held on prospects for NAM-ASEAN and Economic Cooperation Organization-ASEAN cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest.
At the end of the consultations, a signing ceremony was held for the first interstate document between the two countries, the “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of culture between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Republic of the Philippines.”
Also, during his visit to Manila, E. Mammadov gave an interview to the “Manila Times” information agency. In the interview, he answered questions about the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries and existing future prospects for further developing and strengthening these relations, and also provided detailed information about the normalization process of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, as well as restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
