No:185/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Edmondo Cirielli

On 3 April 2023, a meeting was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Edmondo Cirielli.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy within the bilateral framework, and prospects for multidimensional strategic partnership relations between the two countries in political, security, economic, trade, energy, humanitarian, education and other fields were discussed.
The sides also conducted an exchange of views on Azerbaijan’s partnership with the European Union, including the expansion of cooperation in energy and transport projects, as well as in the direction of alternative energy projects.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the Italian Deputy Minister about the acts of vandalism committed by Armenia as a result of the occupation of our territories for 30 years, the process of normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations after the 2020 war, as well as the negotiation process on the preparation of a peace treaty between the two countries, and restoration and rereconstruction works carried out by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories. At the same time, obstacles created by the Armenian side against the peace process contrary to its obligations, political and military provocations, and ongoing mine threats were brought to the attention of the other side.
Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli noted that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Italy, and stated that with the end of the conflict, a new era has begun in the entire region and more favorable opportunities have emerged. He also spoke about new opportunities for the comprehensive expansion of relations between the two countries and prospects for the development of cooperation.
During the meeting, other international and regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
