No:177/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad Shtayyeh

On 30 March 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad Shtayyeh within the framework of his official visit to Palestine.
At the meeting, the bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Palestine in various fields, issues of mutual activity on multilateral platforms, as well as the regional situation were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, noting that relations between the two peoples are based on historical roots and that our peoples have strong friendly relations, spoke about prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Palestine in various fields. Confidence was expressed that the opening of the Representative Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ramallah, Palestine, will create new opportunities for the development of existing relations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has always demonstrated solidarity with regard to the Palestinian issue, and emphasized that our country supports the settlement of the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state principle in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and decisions, and that this position is unequivocally expressed within the framework of international organizations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about Armenia’s occupation policy and acts for 30 years, the new situation that emerged in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War, the measures taken by our side towards the realization of the peace agenda, and restoration and reconstruction measures. Facts regarding the provocations of the Armenian side contrary to its obligations and the creation of difficulties towards ensuring peace, as well as the mine threat that poses a direct danger to people’s lives in the liberated territories, were highlighted.
Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad Shtayyeh stated that his country is interested in further expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan. He expressed his gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan for the humanitarian assistance provided by our country to Palestine, as well as for the attention paid to the Palestinian issue and the support provided within the framework of international organizations. The Prime Minister provided detailed information on the difficulties experienced within the framework of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
