On 6 March 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey within the framework of his participation in the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, J. Bayramov congratulated his Ghanaian counterpart on the occasion of the National Day of this country and wished progress, peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Ghana.

Afterwards, the sides conducted an exchange of views on issues included in the cooperation agenda on bilateral and multilateral platforms and discussed future potential areas of cooperation.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Ghanaian counterpart, as one of the current non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, about the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations in the post-conflict period, as well as the current security situation in the region. It was stated that the continued military provocations of the Armenian side, including the incident that occurred on 5 March, once again show that this country is not interested in achieving lasting peace in the region and establishing relations with Azerbaijan based on mutual respect.

At the meeting, cooperation issues within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement were also discussed. Emphasizing Ghana’s active participation in the activities of the NAM as one of the founding states of the Movement, the other side was informed about the Summit of the NAM Contact Group on the fight against COVID-19 held in Baku a few days ago and its outcomes.

During the meeting, the sides also conducted an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
