On 3 March 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola Esmeralda Mendonça, who was on a visit to our country within the framework of the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on the fight against COVID-19.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on possible prospects for cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, education, agriculture and other fields, including cooperation within the framework of international organizations. In this regard, the importance of holding political consultations between the two countries in order to discuss prospects for the development of relations was emphasized.
In the field of education, the interest shown by students from the Republic of Angola in scholarship programs intended by Azerbaijan for citizens of NAM Member States was noted with satisfaction.
Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Esmeralda Mendonça noted that Angola is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields. In this regard, it was stated that it is necessary to continue mutual contacts towards using the existing potential for the development of relations between the two countries. The importance of holding the Summit of the Contact Group of the NAM on the fight against COVID-19 as one of the important opportunities for discussing cooperation possibilities in the post-pandemic period was emphasized.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
