No:107/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari

On 1 March 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari, who was on a visit to our country to participate in the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement on the fight against COVID-19.
During the meeting, work on the agenda of the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku, as well as issues arising from the treacherous terrorist attack against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that it is important to identify the perpetrator, organizers and those who ordered the treacherous attack against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran, and to punish them accordingly.
Once again emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the obligations arising from the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underlined that it is the duty of the receiving side to ensure the protection of the premises of diplomatic missions, as well as their employees, from any kind of attack.
The Minister emphasized that the details of the terrorist attack and video footage have been examined by our side, that the investigation in this direction is ongoing, and that it is necessary for Iran to answer a number of existing questions of the Azerbaijani side regarding the terror attack.
