No:104/23, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Li Hui, Special Representative of the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Eurasian Affairs

On 1 March 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Li Hui, Special Representative of the Government of the People’s Republic of China on Eurasian Affairs, who is visiting our country to participate in the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement on the fight against COVID-19 to be held in Baku.
During the meeting, the sides noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of development of political, trade-economic and transport relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and emphasized the importance of developing our cooperation in all other areas of mutual interest. Satisfaction was expressed with the high-level official visits carried out between our countries in recent years.
The sides noted the importance of establishing and developing cooperation ties between the regions and cities of the two countries and organizing mutual visits.
During the meeting, the activities of the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation were highly appreciated.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that there are broad opportunities for cooperation between our countries in the fields of transport, transit and logistics, as well as that the Alat Free Economic Zone and investments in this direction are of great importance for the development of cooperation.
The sides discussed the future agenda of cooperation carried out between our countries in various fields and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the consequences of the occupation of our territories by Armenia for 30 years, the post-conflict situation existing in the region after 2020, the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards peacebuilding, the restoration and rereconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the existing mine threats.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
