On 11 February 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov visited the city of Kahramanmaraş of the Republic of Türkiye, which was affected as a result of the earthquake that caused great loss of life and destruction.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov was welcomed at the airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Within the framework of the visit, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov visited the Center of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) of the Republic of Türkiye, the Kahramanmaraş Regional Center of the Ministry of Interior, the base of the agile rescue forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the area where our rescuers operate, including the field hospital sent by Azerbaijan to the earthquake zone, and participated in a press conference held with the participation of media representatives.

Visiting the AFAD Center and the Kahramanmaraş Regional Center of the Ministry of Interior, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov familiarized himself with the large-scale work carried out by AFAD towards rescuing and evacuating citizens trapped under the rubble in the earthquake zone, as well as eliminating the consequences of the earthquake. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov delivered a speech at the event attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, and extended his condolences to the state and people of Türkiye. Noting that Azerbaijan always stands by brotherly Türkiye, the Minister provided information on the support measures implemented by our country from the first day of the disaster upon the instruction of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

Afterwards, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov visited the base of the agile rescue forces of the MES operating in order to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake that occurred in Türkiye, as well as to rescue citizens trapped under the rubble, including the area where they worked. Having familiarized himself with the activities of our rescuers, who continue search and rescue operations uninterruptedly, and the results of the work carried out so far, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked them for their selfless activities towards saving the lives of persons affected by the earthquake.

Visiting the field hospital sent by Azerbaijan in order to support the provision of necessary medical services to persons injured in the earthquake that occurred in Türkiye, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with our doctors working in this hospital, which is fully equipped with all necessary equipment and medicines. Having acquainted himself with the activities of our doctors, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude to them for their efforts in this responsible work.

At the end, speaking at the press conference organized with the participation of media representatives, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov answered questions on the outcomes of the visit, the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan towards eliminating the consequences of the earthquake, including the evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens affected as a result of the earthquake that occurred, and our citizens who lost their lives.
