No:053/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Confederation

On 9 February 2024, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Confederation was held in the city of Baku.
The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation of the Swiss Confederation was led by the Assistant State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Head of the Eurasia Division, Ms. Muriel Peneveyre.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between the two countries in the political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian fields, as well as issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, were discussed.
An exchange of views was held on the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan this year, and it was noted that this significant event will create new opportunities for the development of cooperation.
During the meeting, information was provided on the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards establishing sustainable peace in the region, the mine problem in our territories liberated from occupation, as well as the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out.
During the political consultations, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
